Cecil is a healthcare industry veteran who has served as Chairman, CEO/President and held other senior level posts in companies that spanned HCIT, medical devices, clinical diagnostics and distribution.
During his 45-year career in healthcare, Cecil successfully raised more than $200 million through both private and public offerings, completed six exits and demonstrated unique operating flexibility running companies that ranged in size from early stage to nearly $1 billion.
Prior to becoming a HEP Executive Partner in August 2019, Cecil was Chairman & CEO of InDemand Interpreting, Inc., a HEP II portfolio company. InDemand is a leading provider of technology-enabled medical interpreting services that was sold to Stratus Video in May 2019. Cecil’s association with InDemand began as a board member in 2013, then Chairman and Executive Chairman before he assumed the CEO post in August 2015. During his tenure as CEO, the company’s revenue quadrupled while profitability increased substantively. Moreover, InDemand received widespread recognition for its innovation in addressing one of the major social determinants of health, namely effective communication between healthcare providers and limited English proficient (LEP) patients via an on-demand interpreting service delivered over video.
Cecil has been a serial entrepreneur leading the first company to introduce wristband technology to facilitate patient identification (Precision Dynamics Corporation), the first “virtual drug sample closet” for physicians and the pharmaceutical industry (MedManage Systems, Inc.) and the first molecular diagnostic test for the prediction of recurrence of breast cancer (Oncor, Inc.). Further, Cecil contributed to the rapid expansion of SciQuest, Inc., leading to its IPO and was credited for growing Curtin Matheson Scientific, Inc. into a powerhouse distributor and manufacturer of lab products to laboratories in the healthcare, academic research and industrial markets prior to its sale to Fisher International (now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific).
Cecil holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tulane University.
