Philip joined the HEP Immersion Program during the summer of 2022 after his first year at Columbia Business School (CBS). Prior to his internship at HEP, Philip worked with the life sciences & healthcare team at Deloitte Consulting. There, he advised traditional payors and providers on their growth and product strategies. Although most of his work at Deloitte focused on large institutional providers, payors, and pharmaceutical and medical device companies, he also had the opportunity to work with the Deloitte Catalyst Team. As a member of the Catalyst Team, he gathered market trends and identified startups with the potential to make a significant impact within the industry and reported findings to Deloitte leadership. Philip’s participation with both long-established and emerging companies allowed him to act as a bridge between frontier healthcare innovation and more traditional healthcare institutions.
Philip also worked with the ventures investment team at Newlab for a pre-MBA and in-semester internship. In his role, he conducted due diligence and prepared investment memos for Newlab’s deal pipeline of frontier technology startups. Additionally, he worked with Newlab’s leadership on expansion strategies for the non-therapeutic life sciences and digital therapeutic sectors.
Philip graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Finance and will graduate from CBS in 2023. At CBS, he serves on the board of both the Healthcare Industry Association and the Venture Capital Club.
